Why You Should Never Buy Dynex Products

I recently purchased a Dynex All-in-1 Memory Card Reader from Best Buy.

First thing that went wrong:

The item came with a small CD (not one of the full sized ones, but one approximately the size of a game cube disc) which contained the drivers. I own a macbook pro so I was unsure if this would just slide into the CD drive or not, no where in the literature that accompanied the device not to put one of these discs into this kind of disc drive so I went for it.

I ended up having to shake the hell out of the thing while holding it upside down to get it back out.

In all fairness to Dynex this was more my own idiocy than their fault. I think I should have used some common sense there, but…

Second thing that went wrong:

I called up Dynex tech support number and they informed me that with my version of OS X I could simply plug and play the device, no drivers needed- only after they took down my name and phone number. Once they told me this, I replied that I would like them to delete the personal information I had just supplied.

They acted as if this was a strange request. When they asked me why, I told them that now that they had helped me and my problem was solved I felt they no longer needed me on file. They told me they dont use it for marketing purposes, all the more reason then, that they dont need my information any longer. My problem is solved, they said they arnt going to call me to give me marketing offers, so really Dynex, why do you need my information?

I pressed the tech rep some more and they told me they could not remove it. I asked them if there is any way to remove it and I was told no. The guy went and put me on hold to talk to someone else and then came back and told me there was no way to have it removed, and only after much pressing did he offer me what I assume is his best guess of who to contact to get my information removed from their system.

In summation, I dont recommend buying Dynex products, and if you ever need tech support help then make sure you lie to them because they are keeping track of what you give them and then will refuse to remove it. I still have yet to understand why they cannot remove my information, I speculate they may keep it incase I buy future Dynex products, but after that debacle Dynex can suck my fucking balls and i’m never buying another item from them again till they apologize and change their policy to allow anyone to request that their personal information be removed from their system.

I think we should all have that right.

If anyone from Dynex is reading this please feel free to leave a comment.
